We are looking for a detail-oriented Drafter / Steel Detailer to join our Soundwalls team. In this role, you will develop engineering drawings, steel detailing packages, and fabrication documents that support the successful delivery of sound barrier projects across North America. You'll work closely with engineers, project teams, and manufacturing to transform project requirements into accurate, buildable solutions.
What You'll Do

Develop engineering drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, calculations, specifications, and project requirements

Prepare detailed fabrication and steel detailing drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and proprietary software

Create design sketches, drawing packages, material lists, and project documentation

Review and verify drawings to ensure compliance with specifications and design requirements

Prepare material estimates, schedules, and project-related reports

Coordinate and manage assigned drafting projects from start to finish

Support manufacturing teams with accurate component drawings and fabrication details

Collaborate with engineers and project teams to resolve design and detailing challenges
What You Bring
Must Have
-
Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline

3–5 years of AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience, including standardized drafting practices
-
Strong understanding of drafting principles and steel detailing concepts

Ability to interpret specifications, engineering calculations, and technical drawings
-
Strong mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
Nice to Have

Eligibility for Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation

Experience with structural steel, soundwalls, retaining walls, or infrastructure projects

Ability to complete preliminary designs using Canadian steel and concrete codes for review by engineers

Experience reviewing drafting work for accuracy and quality assurance

Experience supporting manufacturing or fabrication environments
