Job Title: Community Mental Health Support Worker
Program: Summit House
Classification: Standard Grid level 10 Transition House Worker
Rate of Pay: $28.25 per hour; increments as per Collective Agreement
JOB SUMMARY:
To provide support for individuals who have mental health concerns by facilitating individualized goal-oriented treatment/recovery plans which are based on a psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery model approach.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Diploma in the mental health field; preferably certification as a Mental Health Worker, Psychosocial Rehabilitation practitioner and one-year recent related experience with adults with mental health concerns or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Sound knowledge of and commitment to the principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and the Recovery Model.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with family members, the community and support network, with team members and the wider agency.
- Demonstrated skills in planning, decision-making, coaching, human-relations such as a genuine concern and respect for mental health clients.
- Knowledge of current medications and medication administration/monitoring procedures.
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to working effectively with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of community resources is essential.
- Valid First Aid/CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
- Working knowledge of Windows operating system and MSWord; familiarity with an electronic case management system is preferred.
- Valid Class 5 driver license and Food Safe certification are preferred.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
HOURS OF WORK: This is a Part-time position working 20 hours per week, Monday (11:00am – 3:00 pm), Tuesday-Wednesday (9:00am – 1:00pm), Thursday (1:00pm – 5:00pm) and Friday (12:00pm – 4:00pm), including Statutory Holiday. Start and finish times may vary and flexibility with hours of work may be required to meet client and program needs as determined by the Program Supervisor.
