Nights Electrical General Foreperson
To work at our BHP Potash Mine Project in Jansen, Saskatchewan.
- SALARY: $$63.75

- SCHEDULE: 14 days on 7 days off
- HOURS PER DAY: 12
- PAY SCHEDULE: Weekly Pay (Friday)
- SHIFT: 14&7
- DURATION: 6 Months +
- Reports to: Superintendent
Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years’ experience as a qualified and competent General Foreperson, who is familiar with other construction trades and crafts.
- A proven track record of excellence in safety and job completion
- Valid Journeyperson & Red Seal certificate from a recognized provincial training authority
- Leadership for Safety Excellence certificate, CSTS, First Aid, Supervisor Training
- Establish a team-based work environment that recognizes and utilizes the contribution of all team members and involves all employees and other stakeholders in health, safety and environmental performance improvement planning and associated activities.
- Involve employees and other stakeholders in health, safety and environmental management
- Basic understanding of the operation of key office software and productivity tools such as: MS Office suite of tools
- Interpersonal skills – establish direct working relationships and rapport with all levels within the organization, communication skills including verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of personality types, transfer knowledge and mentor others
- Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
- Able to read drawings (erection drawings and ISO)
Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership and is responsible for, although not limited to: scheduling, workface planning, coordinating, supervising, and ensuring the HSE, proper apprentice training and productivity of crews at the workface who install/assemble components of the modular structures. Monitor costs and quality control
- Communicate and ensure compliance with the safety regulations. (Occupational Health and Safety Regulation and Code) and safety policies and procedures
- Identify needs for crew safety training and coordinate delivery of training
- Participate in and monitor Safety Tool Box Meetings
- Ensure completion of initial safety and hazard assessments (Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs)) and have those involved sign off on the FLRA as well as completion of required Serious About Zero (SAZ) cards and provide resolution to any SAZ concerns.
- Assess competency and capability of Foreperson’s and tradespersons; evaluate crew capability, training, and coaching to ensure that the crew meets required levels of quality
- Communicate the job to and with the Foreperson on a daily and weekly basis.
- Support job training for apprentices and facilitate mentoring of apprentices by journey people
- Recognize, address, and resolve issues/problems among/between crew(s)
- Effectively mentor Foremen personnel regarding job development, safety awareness and team building.
- Identify and/or verify that the field installation work package which includes all tools and materials required by the crew are available and complete.
- Identify needs, deficiencies, and changes in plan/schedule. Assess impacts and communicate these to the appropriate persons.
- Review and adjust specific workface activities and task schedules to meet established production schedules.
- Work with the crew to overcome work challenges, maintain a field presence
- Identify, verify, and report any scheduling conflicts with other crews and contractors to the appropriate persons.
