Your Opportunity:
Under the direction of the Managers of Gastroenterology, located at the Foothills Medical Centre Campus, and the Nurse Clinician, this position performs specialized cleaning of GI Endoscopy equipment. Adhering to CSA and Alberta Health guidelines, this position performs technical duties under general supervision relating to the disassembly, decontamination, assembly, function testing, sterilization, storage and distribution of reprocessed hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation. Other duties include database information; obtains, distributes and maintains supplies; performs general cleaning; and other related duties as required.
Description:
As a Surgical Processor, you will be responsible for the decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation. You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program. Completion of an Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Graduate of recognized CRCST Program (CSA or IAHCSMM). Medical Terminology required. Current reprocessing practice required. Require manual dexterity and ability to perform repetitive tasks using fine motor skills; must be in good health without limitation, affecting standing and walking; must be able to lift continuously Scope sets weighing 10 kilograms (22 lbs) and occasionally lift up to 18 kg (40 lbs). Experience working with computerized equipment required. Excellent English verbal and written skills required. Excellent data entry skills required. Meticulous attention to detail required. Strong organizational and communication skills required. Must be capable of continuous productivity in stressful situations. Ability to foster positive interpersonal communications and work effectively with members of a multi-disciplinary team required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 1year previous experience working with endoscopes preferred.
