1. Purpose
The purpose of the Residential Coordinator position is to ensure the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centered support for individuals eligible for CLBC (Community Living BC) services residing in Exemplar Care’s residential programs.
The Residential Coordinator provides leadership, supervision, and coordination of service delivery aligned with CARF Employment and Community Services Standards, the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, and CLBC contractual requirements. The role promotes inclusion, independence, safety, and dignity in all aspects of residential living.
2. Scope
The Residential Coordinator oversees the daily operations of assigned residential homes and staff teams, ensuring that services:
- Are person‑centered, outcome‑based, and trauma‑informed.
- Support individuals in achieving goals identified in their Person‑Centered Plan (PCP).
- Meet CARF standards related to leadership, safety, human resources, and quality improvement.
- Comply with all organizational, regulatory, and licensing policies and procedures.
The position has supervisory authority over support workers, relief staff, as well as administrative responsibility for budgets, staffing schedules, and record management.
3. Key Responsibilities
A. Leadership and Supervision
- Provide direct supervision and performance management to residential services staff.
- Implement and model CARF’s Leadership and Human Resources best practices.
- Facilitate staff orientation, competency‑based training, and ongoing professional development.
- Promote consistent communication, teamwork, and accountability among site teams.
B. Service Delivery and Person‑Centered Planning
- Ensure each individual’s Person‑Centered Plan (PCP) is developed, implemented, and reviewed regularly.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary supports with families, CLBC facilitators, healthcare professionals, and behavior consultants.
- Monitor service quality, safety, and the achievement of individual outcomes.
- Model and promote inclusion, self‑determination, and community participation.
C. Quality Assurance and Risk Management
- Ensure program practices comply with CARF standards, CLBC funding criteria, and applicable legislation.
- Conduct site audits and health & safety inspections.
- Complete, review, and analyze documentation (incident reports, log notes, outcomes data).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, satisfaction surveys, and outcome measurement reviews.
D. Program Administration
- Manage staff schedules, residential budgets, and resource allocations.
- Maintain accurate and confidential program and individual records per compliance requirements.
- Oversee medication and health‑safety procedures according to policy.
- Respond to crises promptly and follow emergency and on‑call protocols.
E. Professional and Community Engagement
- Represent Exemplar Care Inc. professionally with external stakeholders.
- Support the organization’s mission, vision, and values through advocacy and community involvement.
- Participate in CARF surveys, program evaluations, and leadership meetings.
4. Qualifications
- Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Social Services, Psychology, or a related human services field.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in residential/community living services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership role in human services.
- Knowledge of CARF accreditation standards, CLBC policy framework, and licensing regulations.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, First Aid/CPR, and clear Criminal Record Check.
- Strong oral and written communication, problem‑solving, and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Experience supporting individuals affected by substance use is strongly preferred. Candidates should be familiar with harm reduction, naloxone administration, drug paraphernalia, exposure risks, overdose response, incident reporting, and workplace policies related to substance use in a residential care environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office or electronic record‑keeping systems.

6. Working Conditions
- Primarily site‑based with periodic travel between residences.
- On‑call rotation as needed for emergencies or staffing coverage.
- Exposure to varying physical and emotional needs of individuals supported.
The Residential Coordinator reports to the Residential Services Manager / Director of Community Living for compliance with CARF standards, organizational policies, CLBC contracts, and regulatory requirements.
