Ramp Service Lead, YYC (Part Time, Relief)
Reporting to the Development & Performance Manager, the Ramp Service Lead (RSL) is responsible for providing oversight, technical support, coordination, and delivery of baggage in support of connection activities. The RSL will provide oversight of baggage connectivity activities and support effective co-ordination internally and with our service partners. The RSL will maintain an effective presence on the ramp and in the bag rooms to ensure that we minimize any potential aircraft or baggage delays and provide a world class guest experience.
Key Deliverables Include:
- Daily oversight and coordination of connection and baggage running.
- Conduct regular coaching conversations with team members to provide feedback and support performance improvement.
- Document coaching discussions, performance observations and follow-up outcomes in a timely and accurate manner
- Allocating flight and task assignments for connection runners to ensure effective service and timely delivery of baggage.
- Communicate and coordinate connection running activities with IROP and Ramp Service Managers Hub Control Centre teams to receive guidance and direction to execute plans under consideration.
- Monitor daily flight activity and baggage movements to identify potential issues and proactively develop solutions to mitigate the impacts to operations, our guests and our key performance indicators.
- Develop tactical plans under the direction of the Ramp Service Managers to improve SPOT and MBR Metrics during shift.
- Monitor, review, and report daily on key performance indicators.
- Responsible for assigning and tracking all equipment used by ground service partner’s connection runner team on company tracking systems, such as radios, iPads, bag tractors, etc.
- Complete audits as required by WestJet for connection running operations.
- Coordinate and/or conduct regular sweeps of the ramp for bags that have missed flights.
- To assist with baggage movement and connection running functions, including prioritizing AVI movement, when required by WestJet.
- Complete a daily shift summary report.
- Provide and fulfill such other related duties and other responsibilities as may be required by WestJet from time to time.
Experience & Qualifications:
- 1 year of Ramp experience required
- Ability to acquire and maintain Airside Vehicle operators Permit required.
- Prior leadership experience an asset. Strong preference will be given to those with prior connection running and or ramp experience.
- Experience in all aspects of airport baggage and ground operations is required.
- Exceptional personal OTP and performance.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task.
- Outstanding people skills, ability to mentor and motivate.
- Proven track record in leading by example.
- Proven history of effecting change through positive influence.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule 24/7/365 and travel for business meetings/training.
- Proficient in PC based applications, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
