ESL Teacher (Mandarin-Speaking Preferred / Required)
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate ESL Teacher to join our growing educational team. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching English as a Second Language and be able to communicate effectively with Chinese international students and their families in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to support students in improving their English proficiency, academic confidence, and cross-cultural communication skills within a supportive and student-centered learning environment.
The ESL Teacher will be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans, fostering a positive classroom atmosphere, and helping students achieve their academic and language learning goals.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging ESL lessons tailored to students with varying proficiency levels and learning needs
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and confidence in English communication
- Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to students and parents
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to support international students from diverse educational backgrounds
- Incorporate interactive activities, multimedia resources, and real-world communication practice into lessons
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assignments, assessments, and student performance
- Collaborate with colleagues and administrative staff to support student success
- Communicate with Chinese-speaking students and parents regarding academic progress and learning goals
- Support extracurricular learning activities, workshops, or language development events when needed
Qualifications & Requirements
- Prior experience teaching ESL, English, or related subjects is preferred
- Fluent or proficient in both English and Mandarin Chinese (spoken communication required)
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to adapt lessons for different learning styles and academic levels
- Passion for education and supporting international students in their language-learning journey
- Ability to build a positive, respectful, and engaging learning environment
- TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, OCT, or other teaching certifications are considered an asset, but are not mandatory
- Experience working with Chinese international students is an asset
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development in language education
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
