Grocery Clerk
The Grocery Clerk is responsible for carrying out the full range of duties of the position in a professional, responsible, accurate, and timely manner. The Grocery Clerk will deliver exceptional customer service, foster customer loyalty, fulfill customer needs, and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, Health and Safety requirements, corporate policies, and other programs and initiatives.
- Order, receive, and merchandise stock in accordance with company inventory control procedures.
- Utilize the CAO (Computer Assisted Ordering) system to manage inventory and support ordering functions.
- Provide superior customer service to meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Increase store sales by actively promoting featured products and seasonal programs.
- Perform back shop and retail floor maintenance, ensuring work areas remain clean, organized, and presentable in accordance with company standards.
- Prepare customer orders as required.
- Process department shrink and inventory adjustments as required.
- Safely operate power equipment, including pallet jacks and other approved equipment, in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
- Lead and support team members by providing direction, coaching, and assistance to ensure operational standards are achieved.
- Participate in the training and development of junior staff.
- During scheduled leadership rotations, oversee total store operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, store standards, and operational execution.
- Act as a key holder, responsible for opening and/or closing the store, securing company assets, and responding appropriately to operational issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Previous grocery retail experience preferred.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a retail environment is considered a strong asset.
- Experience using CAO (Computer Assisted Ordering) systems is considered a strong asset.
- Experience operating power equipment is considered a strong asset.
- Must have a flexible schedule with open availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be able to lead a team effectively and make sound decisions in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Must be comfortable managing total store operations during leadership rotations.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be able to work in cold-temperature environments, including coolers and freezers, for extended periods of time.
- May be required to lift up to 30 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform physical work including bending, lifting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.60-$20.65 per hour
