How you will make a difference:
The Director of Logistics has expertise in all areas of transportation (including ground, sea, line hauls) and is responsible for planning and directing logistical operations to retail stores while securing effective routings and best rates.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage all aspects of transportation
- Control day-to-day logistics operations from the warehouse to stores, including shipping, receiving, freight routing and general operations
- Negotiates the best rates with the best carriers for the best routes
- Provide forecasts for Third Party provider on incoming freight and distribution forecasts for upcoming weeks
- Work closely with Third Party provider to ensure the Service Agreement requirements are met, provide recommendations and effective solutions
- Effectively identify and resolve issues regarding transportation issues
- Liaison with outside carrier in regard to special requests and outstanding concerns involving store deliveries
- Analyze and quantify distribution performance and correct deviations from schedules, excessive costs and other negative factors
- Manage monthly/annual logistics operational budgets and project budgets as needed
- Adheres to all health and safety practices including identifying and reporting any safety concerns
What You’ll Need:
- 5+ years’ managing Logistics
- Knowledge of the retail industry an asset
Related Work Skills
- Excellent analytical and problem solving
- Ability to make effective decisions
- In depth knowledge in various modes of transportation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Familiarity with International Customs requirements, tariff codes, FDA product codes
- Team player who works productively with wide range of people
- Proven ability to work well under pressure, and meets all deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
