We have an opportunity for a Senior Financial and Costing Analyst for a limited term contract.
FUNCTION SUMMARY:
The Senior Financial and Costing Analyst is accountable to the Finance Manager of Operations to act as a leader and resource to the North American Group performing financial and analytical reporting. This individual is involved with various levels of the organization, providing recommendations for continuous improvements, ensuring consistent application and compliance on the processes, systems and reporting that impacts finance. This person is responsible for financial and analytical reports for the North American entities, including departmental reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, financial statements, and other financial performance reporting as required. Duties include working with multiple currencies, companies and operating locations within North America.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads Operations Finance team with inventory management, production reporting, and standard costing calculations for existing and future products
- Actively engages with Operations to understand spending trends and discover cost reductions
- In conjunction with the Company’s functional departments, continue to drive the development and monitoring of appropriate performance metrics enabling more informed decision making
- Develops and updates various monthly financial reports, analyses, and other complex accounting activities for various entities within North America, in accordance with accounting principles, IFRS, ERP and standards that control the organizations financial resources to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws and reporting systems
- Ensures the accuracy and integrity of the financial reporting used throughout the organization while driving efficiencies into existing reporting processes
- Checks, reconciles, and analyzes financial information and posts journal entries
- Completes, reviews, and analyzes account reconciliations in a timely manner (i.e. monthly, quarterly, annually)
- Provides technical accounting advice to assist in developing reports including Business Intelligence (BI) and corporate performance management (CPM) reporting
- Will provide a vital role in implementing SAP process order costing and variance analysis along with standard costing and understanding the required system setup.
- Provides assistance to less experienced accounting staff
- Evaluates and makes recommendations to the Director of Accounting, North America & Operations Controller to improve the efficiency and controls within the financial departments in North America
- Completes back-up/reconciliations for external auditors and assists external and government auditors in a timely and accurate manner
- Assists other departments with analysis to support business decisions, including analysis of Power BI reports, as well as developing new reports and track projects in process
- Assists Executives, Directors, or Department Manager with financial analysis to support business decisions
- Performs other related duties and or special projects as required in the finance department
- Embraces the One Finance family with other Septodont groups applying common processes and working to enhance them
- Observes and supports all safety guidelines and regulations
- Demonstrates the Company Mission, Vision and Values Statements, policies, and current standard business
- Follows GMP and regulatory requirements, and ensures quality standards are met
- Performs other related duties and or special projects as required in the finance department.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Education
- University degree preferably in areas such as Accounting, Business Administration and Finance
- A recognized Accounting Designation is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of significant work experience in accounting/finance, including involvement with senior management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate and meet project timelines.
- Proven analytical skills with the ability to evaluate, to troubleshoot, work independently, problem solve and recommend resolutions.
- Places a high priority on organization, timeliness, accuracy, meeting financial deadlines and compliance with the ability to coordinate and meet project timelines.
- Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy, meeting financial deadlines and compliance.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with staff, management, external resources and auditors.
- Advanced level MS Office Suite skills, with an emphasis on advanced level Excel. Experience with business ERP Systems required; SAP or Microsoft AX an asset.
- Proficient understanding of the A/R, A/P, Inventory and Product Costing processes and related reporting.
- Experience with project reporting, including percentage of completion accounting is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to work in a demanding environment with proven multi-tasking skills.
- A background in a pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environment would be an asset.

Compensation
Starting at approximately $113,000.00 CAD with opportunity for increase based on qualifications and experience. Total rewards include comprehensive benefits, bonus eligibility, and professional development support.
