Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Coordinator to join our supply chain team. The ideal candidate will oversee procurement activities, manage vendor relationships, and ensure the timely acquisition of materials and supplies essential for warehouse distribution and operations. This role requires strong data analysis skills, familiarity with ERP systems, and experience in supply chain management to optimize procurement processes and support overall business efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate purchasing activities across warehouse distribution, shipping & receiving, and order fulfillment functions
- Manage procurement processes using ERP systems such as AS400 and Warehouse Management System (WMS) to ensure accurate order processing and inventory control
- Source suppliers, negotiate pricing, and evaluate vendor performance to optimize costs and quality
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and freight/3PL data to coordinate transportation logistics and delivery schedules
- Analyze demand planning data to forecast needs and maintain optimal stock levels
- Oversee materials management, including order picking, packaging, and warehouse inventory control
- Support process improvement initiatives within procurement workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, pricing agreements, and supplier contracts
- Collaborate with warehouse staff on order fulfillment, shipping & receiving, and materials handling procedures such as forklift operation
- Ensure compliance with safety standards related to warehouse operations and procurement activities
Skills
- Extensive experience in warehouse distribution, procurement, and supply chain management
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as AS400, Warehouse Management System (WMS), and CMMS software
- Strong data analysis skills for demand planning, pricing strategies, and process optimization
- Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), freight logistics, 3PL providers, and shipping & receiving protocols
- Familiarity with sourcing strategies, procurement best practices, and warehouse experience including order picking and materials management
- Ability to utilize e-commerce platforms for procurement activities and order fulfillment processes
- Experience with packaging standards, forklift operation, and warehouse safety procedures
- Excellent communication skills for negotiating with suppliers and coordinating with internal teams
