Overview
We are seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Cashier to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service, handle transactions accurately, and contribute to a positive shopping experience. This role requires strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and proficiency with POS systems. Bilingual abilities and experience in retail sales or merchandising are considered valuable assets. The Cashier will be an integral part of creating a welcoming environment for all customers and ensuring efficient store operations.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their purchases
- Operate POS systems accurately for cash, credit, and digital transactions
- Handle cash handling duties with precision and integrity
- Provide product demos and upsell items when appropriate to enhance sales opportunities
- Maintain organized checkout areas and ensure merchandise displays are tidy
- Answer customer inquiries politely via phone or in person using excellent phone etiquette
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to reduce wait times
- Support merchandising efforts by restocking shelves and organizing displays as needed
- Assist with basic inventory management and product knowledge sharing
- Ensure compliance with store policies and safety procedures at all times
Requirements
- Previous experience in retail sales, cashiering, or customer service preferred
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish) are a plus
- Proficiency with POS systems and basic math skills for accurate cash handling
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities smoothly
- Friendly demeanor with strong phone etiquette and customer service orientation
- Knowledge of merchandising, product demos, and upselling techniques is advantageous
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings if required
