A part-time academic is required to teach CHIN 2050.03/SOSA 2051.03: Chinese Culture (Section 1) – Fall Term 2026 (September 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026).

Course Description: This course introduces students to the Chinese cultural heritage. It offers an overview of traditional and modern Chinese culture through the lenses of history, sociology, religion, philosophy, literature, art, and film. The class offers students an opportunity not only to familiarize themselves with the historical legacies of China, but also to examine modern issues facing Chinese society in the contexts of international relations, society, economics, gender, ethnicity, and politics. No previous knowledge of Chinese culture or the Chinese language is required.
The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including admission, lectures, test preparation, evaluation, and electronic submission of grades. Instructors are expected to maintain reliable and constant communication with the administration of the Department, to be available for two hours per week for consultation with students, and to have students fill out the evaluation questionnaire at the end of the course. Instructors report to the Chairperson of the Department.
