About the Role
De La Fontaine Doors & Trim is a Kingston-based distributor of interior doors, trim, and hardware serving residential builders and contractors across Eastern Ontario. This is a hands-on, physical role with a primary focus on delivery, supported by regular warehouse and shop responsibilities when not on the road.
You will work with our operations team, ensuring materials move accurately and on time to job sites across our territory and that our warehouse stays organized for production at all times.
Delivery Responsibilities
- Serve as secondary driver, supporting our lead driver on scheduled delivery runs and covering independently as needed
- Operate trucks up to 5-ton capacity; safely load and secure doors, trim, and hardware for transport
- Deliver building materials to active high-rise and residential construction sites across our territory
- Confirm delivery accuracy against order documentation before departure and upon delivery
- Handle site interactions professionally; communicate any site issues or discrepancies to the Operations Manager
- Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
Warehouse & Shop Responsibilities
- Receive incoming shipments, verify quantities, inspect for damage, and verify delivery documentation
- Stock and organize product in the warehouse; maintain accurate bin locations for doors, trim, moulding, and hardware
- Pick and load orders for delivery based on the daily schedule prepared by the Operations Manager
- Operate a forklift to unload, load, and move material throughout the warehouse
- Assist with shop work including cutting, boring, and basic fabrication as directed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop and warehouse environment
- Conduct regular stock rotation and flag low inventory or damaged product to the Operations Manager
- Assist with physical inventory counts
- Other production duties as assigned
What You Bring
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence in good standing
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and handle large, awkward building materials
- Forklift operator certification is an asset; willingness to obtain certification is expected
- Previous delivery, warehouse, shipper-receiver, or building materials experience is a strong asset
- Physically fit, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail when picking, staging, and confirming orders
- Professional and courteous with customers and site personnel at all times is mandatory
Working Conditions
- Regular time on the road delivering to active construction sites, with shop and warehouse work between runs
- This is a physical role consisting of lifting, staging, and handling materials
- Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm
- Delivery territory spans approximately 150 km from Kingston
Compensation and Health Benefits
Competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience. Benefits available after the three month probationary period.
Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
