We are looking for an experienced Landscape Construction Foreperson to lead crews, manage project execution, and ensure our projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
Position Overview
The Landscape Construction Foreperson is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and execution of landscape construction projects.
This role serves as the on-site leader, ensuring work is completed according to plans, schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements. The Foreperson works closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients while providing leadership, direction, and accountability to field crews.
The ideal candidate is an experienced construction leader who is organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution
- Lead all on-site construction activities from project start through completion.
- Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements before work begins.
- Ensure projects are built according to approved plans, specifications, and company standards.
- Coordinate labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to maintain project schedules.
- Identify and resolve construction challenges proactively.
- Monitor project progress and communicate updates to the Project Manager.
Crew Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop field crews.
- Establish daily priorities and communicate expectations clearly.
- Conduct daily crew huddles and safety discussions.
- Maintain accountability for productivity, workmanship, and jobsite conduct.
- Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
Quality Control
- Ensure all work meets company quality standards.
- Perform regular inspections throughout project execution.
- Address deficiencies promptly and maintain attention to detail throughout construction.
- Ensure projects are completed professionally and efficiently.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Maintain professional communication with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Represent Hyland Landscapes in a professional manner on every project.
- Support a positive client experience throughout construction.
Safety & Administration
- Maintain safe and organized jobsites.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and WorkSafeBC requirements.
- Track labour, materials, equipment, and site progress.
- Assist with procurement, scheduling, and project documentation as required.
- Support change order identification and reporting.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 5 years of landscape construction experience.
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership or foreperson role.
- Strong understanding of landscape construction methods and sequencing.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Proven experience leading crews and coordinating multiple trades.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with smartphones, tablets, project management software, and digital reporting tools.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
Preferred
- Experience managing high-end residential landscape projects.
- Equipment operating experience.
- Occupational First Aid Certification.
- Project management training or education.
- Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and project forecasting.

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
