This landmark project will span approximately 1,000 km of dedicated, electrified rail infrastructure, with planned stops across Toronto, Peterborough, Ottawa, Montréal, Laval, Trois-Rivières, and Québec City.

As the project accelerates, Alto is continuing to build out its Corporate Accounting function. We are seeking a Manager, Financial Reporting to help mature the reporting function, support complex audit requirements, and lead a small but growing team through a period of significant organizational scale. This role can be based in any of our offices in Montreal, Toronto or Ottawa.
The role
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Accounting, the Manager, Financial Reporting will oversee Alto’s financial reporting function, including financial statement preparation, audit coordination, technical accounting analysis, and team leadership.
This role is well suited to a CPA-designated professional with strong financial reporting depth, comfort interpreting accounting standards, and the ability to operate in an evolving public-sector/project-based environment. Alto reports under PSAS; however, candidates with strong IFRS experience will be considered, provided they have the technical aptitude to transition into PSAS.
The responsibilities
Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting deliverables.
Prepare and review financial statements, note disclosures, supporting schedules, and audit-ready working papers.
Research and interpret accounting standards under PSAS, with the ability to leverage IFRS experience where applicable.
Prepare technical accounting memos and position papers for complex or judgmental accounting matters.
Coordinate year-end audit requirements and act as a key point of contact for external auditors.
Support reporting related to government funding, public-sector accountability, and major project expenditures.
Manage, coach, and develop a small financial reporting team.
Strengthen reporting processes, timelines, documentation, and review controls as Alto continues to scale.
Support board reporting, executive materials, and ad hoc reporting requirements.
Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Cost Controls, Internal Controls, Fixed Assets, Procurement, and project stakeholders.
The requirements
CPA designation required.
Minimum 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in financial reporting, audit, technical accounting, or public-sector/corporate reporting.
Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced buildout environment.
Strong PSAS experience preferred; IFRS experience will also be considered.
Proven ability to prepare financial statements & accompanying notes.
Proven ability to prepare technical accounting memos.
Experience managing audits and working directly with external auditors.
People management experience strongly preferred.
Strong judgment, documentation skills, and ability to work in a high-scrutiny environment.
Experience in public accounting, government, Crown corporation, infrastructure, transportation, construction, or project-based environments is an asset.
Experience with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition is considered an asset.
