Overview
We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (On/Off Road) to join our team. This role is vital in maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy machinery, including excavators, graders, rollers, pavers and other heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with automotive and heavy equipment repair, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Experience with Caterpillar, john deere, and case equipment would be highly valued.
Duties
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy-duty equipment such as excavators, graders, rollers, etc.
- Conduct electrical troubleshooting and repairs using schematics and electrical testing tools.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other specialized machinery to complete repairs efficiently.
- Carry out routine inspections to identify potential issues before they lead to breakdowns.
- Perform heavy lifting tasks safely using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Assemble or disassemble components for repair or replacement as needed.
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Must be able to work Saturdays based on rotation with both shop and field work involved.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic with a valid Journeyman certification preferred.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and assembly techniques.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy machinery confidently.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills with automotive repair experience considered an asset.
- Excellent mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to diagnose complex issues efficiently.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards. Pay: $38.00-$46.00 per hour
