We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the full-cycle accounting function, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, bank reconciliations, accruals, and month-end/year-end close processes.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Review and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Supervise, mentor, and support a team of 2-3 accounting staff, ensuring productivity, accuracy, and professional development.
- Coordinate and review accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, collections, cash application, and customer account reconciliations.
- Hands-on experience managing invoicing and accounts payable processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies.
- Support external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with Operations, Dispatch, Sales, and Customer Service teams to resolve accounting and billing-related issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiencies.
- Prepare government remittances, including GST/PST and other regulatory filings as required.
- Support management with financial analysis and special projects.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation across multiple business entities.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment while working with both local and remote team members.
Requirements & Qualifications
- CPA designation (completed or in progress) is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong understanding of full-cycle accounting.
- Previous experience supervising or leading an accounting team is required.
- Experience in the transportation, logistics, trucking, or supply chain industry is considered a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close, and general accounting principles.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and experience with ERP, TMS, or other accounting systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and management levels.
- Comfortable working with remote teams and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Salary
