About Khalsa School Surrey
Khalsa School Surrey is seeking a dependable and skilled Facilities Handyman to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the school’s buildings and grounds remain in excellent condition.
Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance and repairs.
- Complete minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and drywall repairs.
- Repair doors, locks, windows, furniture, and classroom fixtures.
- Conduct routine inspections of school facilities and identify maintenance needs.
- Maintain school grounds, including seasonal maintenance.
- Assemble and move furniture and equipment as required.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests.
- Report any facility deficiencies, damage, structural maintenance issues, or health and safety concerns to the Operations Manager.
- Maintain maintenance records and ensure tools and equipment are kept in good working order.
- Follow all workplace health and safety policies and school procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a handyman, maintenance worker, or building maintenance technician is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repairs preferred.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual labour.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a safe learning environment.
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence is an asset.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting wage of $18.50 per hour, with higher wages based on experience.
