IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic * is looking for an optician / optometrist assistant (pre-tests) for its ophthalmology clinic. As an optician / optometrist assistant (pre-tests), you will contribute to the success of an ophthalmology clinic that values the expertise of the profession and puts your professional skills at the forefront. Surrounded by a dynamic and competent team of highly qualified ophthalmologists and optometrists, you will be able to carry out your role as optician / optometric assistant (pre‑tests) with ease thanks to the support of your peers.
IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic is a private clinic located in Laval that specializes in vision correction services using corneal laser surgery (LASIK and PRK) and intraocular surgery (clear lens replacement and cataract surgery). IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic holds a specialized medical center permit delivered by the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) and its services have been accredited with "honourable mention" by Accreditation Canada.
- Under the authority of the Director of Professional Services , the ideal candidate will be responsible for carrying out preliminary tests (pre-tests) during pre-operative and post-operative assessments of the patient.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible to inform the patient of the various surgical alternatives that may be proposed by the ophthalmologist and optometrist, depending on the patient's needs and lifestyle.
- College diploma in visual orthosis techniques.
- Optometric assistant training may be considered.
- Be a member of the Ordre des Opticiens d’ordonnances du Québec .
- [OR] Be registered in the register of optometric assistants of the Ordre des Optometrists du Québec.
- Good command of assessment techniques and automated equipment (skill, dexterity, precision , attention to detail).
- Good listening skills and customer-focused approach.
- Skilled communicator, able to popularize information.
- Ability to handle stress (calm, discreet).
- Respect of confidentiality.
- Ability to work as a team.
- Bilingual (English/French).
- Carries out the pre-tests required by the optometrist during the patient's pre-operative or post‑operative assessment:
- Preliminary patient questionnaire.
- Measurement of visual acuity.
- Automated refractor, ophthalmic correction analysis, non‑contact tonometry (NCT) measurement.
- Measurements with specialized diagnostic devices: corneal topography/tomography, biometry, aberrometry, posterior segment imaging, specular microscopy, and others.
- In collaboration with the optometrist, explains to the patient the corrective alternatives that could be proposed by the ophthalmologist, depending on the patient's age, needs/expectations, lifestyle, and personality.
- Prepares tables or summaries of results required by the optometrist for various calculations in preparation for surgery.
- Proceeds with the transfer of computer data in anticipation of the planning of surgical treatments by the optometrist and the ophthalmologist.
- Performs initial analysis and triage of pre-operative and post-operative reports received from professionals working in co‑management with IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic.
- Participates in internal meetings and training courses to ensure continuous improvement in refractive surgery knowledge.
Participates in internal meetings and training courses related to the security of services and respect for customer rights (Examples: infection prevention, emergency measures, incident/accident reporting, ethics, etc.).
