The Quality Coordinator co-reports to the Quality Specialist and the Construction Manager. The Quality Specialist holds this role accountable for technical quality execution and QMS adherence, while the Construction Manager holds this role accountable for practical quality coordination within the project team.
This is a hands-on field quality role responsible for all daily site QA/QC activities and ensuring construction work is executed in compliance with the project's Inspection and Test Plan and quality plan. The Quality Coordinator is expected to be integrated with the construction team — working alongside the Superintendent to keep quality inspections ahead of field progress, not chasing it.
ITP Execution & Quality Record Accuracy
Execute Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) activities completely and accurately across all assigned work
Perform quality inspections at all phases of the project and witness required tests, including leak tests and NDE activities
Ensure no ITP hold points are missed or signed off without the required inspection taking place
Maintain complete, legible, and dated quality control documentation that is defensible in a client dispute or audit
Compile the complete quality record package for progressive and final turnover
Material Verification
Verify materials received on site meet specified requirements, including reviewing mill certificates, test reports, and material markings against project specifications
Catch non-conforming materials before they are incorporated into the work
Assist the construction team in ensuring materials ordered follow client specifications and that received materials match what was ordered
Non-Conformance Identification & Reporting
Identify, document, and track non-conformances against project standards and client requirements
Maintain a live NCR log, ensuring corrective actions are assigned with owners and due dates, and verify close-out before work proceeds
Participate in site quality and regulatory audits
Proactively identify quality gaps through inspection rather than waiting for a client inspector to find them
Inspection Scheduling & Hold Point Coordination
Plan and communicate quality inspections and hold points in advance to avoid unnecessary delays to field progress
Track upcoming ITP milestones and notify the Superintendent and relevant parties in advance
Be available and ready when work reaches the required inspection stage
Coordinate progressive turnover following scheduled task completions, ensuring quality records are compiled and accepted before the next phase of work begins
Client Inspector Coordination
Serve as the primary on-site interface with third-party and client inspectors
Prepare required documentation in advance of scheduled inspections and escort inspectors appropriately
Communicate findings or outcomes to the Construction Manager promptly
Coordinate all subcontractor quality control inspections and ensure subcontractors are aware of upcoming hold points and client inspection requirements
Possession of Red Seal in Piping, mechanical, or electrical trades, or an engineering/technical background
Minimum 5 years of direct work experience with QA systems, regulations, guidelines, and associated standards, or field-related job experience in a piping or mechanical trade in the construction and mining sector
Level 1 CWB weld inspection certification with appropriate code endorsements for the project is an asset
Direct knowledge of ISO 9001 QA methodologies, and/or a track record of major projects successfully completed on budget, is a strong asset
Familiarity with Saskatchewan occupational health and safety regulations
Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Outlook, Word, and Adobe PDF.
Strong sense of ownership — keeps quality inspections ahead of field progress rather than chasing it
Effective communicator who can serve as the primary interface between the construction team, client inspectors, and the Quality Specialist
Good organizational skills to manage inspection schedules, NCR logs, and documentation across multiple work fronts
Comfortable holding accountability to two reporting lines and balancing technical QMS requirements with field-practical coordination
Collaborative and inclusive; supports workforce development for Indigenous workers and community members

Professional development:
support for ongoing learning and training opportunities
Meaningful work:
