Job Summary
The Haldimand Press is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented professional to oversee weekly production, editorial coordination, and administrative operations. Working closely with the co-publishers/owners, this position plays an important role in the weekly production and day-to-day operation of the newspaper.
We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys managing multiple deadlines, and has strong editing, communication, and organizational skills. This is a varied role that includes editorial, production, office administration, and creative projects.
The successful candidate will become an integral member of a small team dedicated to producing quality local journalism and serving the community.
Responsibilities
- Assist with weekly newspaper production and page layout
- Proofread, edit, and review editorial content
- Coordinate story assignments and production schedules
- Upload final pages to the printer and review files before submission
- Assist with front-page planning and overall newspaper organization
- Coordinate advertising materials and website updates
- Maintain community calendars and other office resources
- Develop new editorial products and revenue opportunities, including special sections and long-term projects
- Occasionally write community stories and contribute to special publications
- Provide general office support, including answering phones and assisting visitors
Requirements
- Strong proofreading, editing, and organizational skills
- Excellent time management and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with page layout or design software is an asset
- Background in journalism, publishing, communications, or administration preferred
- Familiarity with community news and local media is an asset

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
