Job Description:
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Ad minis t rati o n
- Create and revise documents to support the programs’ Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) .
- Complete administration tasks as requi red by Sarah's Place staff.
Clea n ing an d Or g aniz i n g C ommon Ar eas
- Select and complete items from cleaning and organizing list provided.
- Provide oversight to participant chores by instructing, teaching, encouraging, and coaching participants in how to do their assigned chores and monitor and document their completion according to policy and procedure.
- Provide advice, guidance and support to residents when contacted for assistance.
- First contact for all situations not requiring immediate 911 assistance.
- Log and report all incidents to staff
- Follow all Sarah's' Place organizational policies and procedures.
Governance Boards and Councils: None
Internal : All other participants in the Sarah ' s Place program, staff and volunteers of Sarah ' s Place program and other programs within the Centre of Hope.
External: Winnipeg Correctional & Justice Services ministry units.
- This position reports directly to the Sarah's Place Program Supervisor
- There are no direct reports to the position. May perform workflow coordination to other Residential Workers when required.
- Minimal material responsibilities.
- As a part of the Sara h's Place staff team, may provide recommendations to the program ' s overall budget in areas related to the position's scope.
- May be authorized to handle small amounts of cash.
- Working environment is typically in the Sarah's Place program environment and utilizes various common areas and office space, when needed.
- Exposure to verbal abuse from emotionally distraught people seeking or in the program as well as those in the vicinity of Sarah ' s Place.
- This position requires a moderate amount of keyboarding/manual record keeping and those served by the program usually relay information that is highly d is t urbing in nature and will require intentional debrief and consultation .
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS :
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- Completion of a formal post-secondary/college program of at least one academic year .
- Must be a senior resident of Sarah's Place for a minimum of 6 months.
- Seeking completion of Manitoba Food Handers Certification.
- Emergency First Aid & CPR .
- Non-Violence Crisis Intervention
- Mental Health First Aid Certification
- Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- At least one year of experience is required as a minimum for this position .
- Experience of First Nations people's unique gifts as well as challenges faced such as colonization, raci s m and oppress i on and barriers to accessing systems and resources.
- Experience as a woman having involvement in the criminal justice system.
- Experience of tough issues such as homelessness , health concerns , unemployment , exploitation and human trafficking.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $16.00 to $19.89 with a maximum of $23.86.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
