As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Sign Fabricator who has a creative passion for sheet metal fabrication to work alongside the fabrication team and to learn their craft.
Job Description:
As our newest Sign Fabricator you will prepare, cut, bend shape, and weld various components and structures based on design requirements, assembly instructions and technical drawings, using a variety of tools and machines such as drills, saws, brake presses, shears, and welders. Based on specifications, you will assemble those materials, take measurements and position parts, ensuring everything is properly fitted and secure.
Required skills:
- Technical knowledge and ability to read and understand specifications and technical drawings
- Ability to accurately measure materials using the imperial system
- An aptitude for mechanics and problem solving
- Proficiency with various hand/power tools and machinery (drills, saws, welder etc). Training will be provided for the brake press and shear
- A focus on fine details, quality, good judgement, and critical decision-making
- Ability to follow instructions (both verbal and written), and work independently with minimal supervision
Duties Include:
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings and, working primarily with aluminum materials, cutting, bending, drilling, and shaping those materials into a finished product.
- Measuring raw materials and finished goods to ensure the completed product design and dimensions match the technical drawings
- Periodically lifting/moving/loading of raw materials and finished goods
- Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
- Adhering to all health and safety policies and procedures in place
- Documenting actions by completing production and quality records
- Checking final product to ensure the highest quality
Required Experience:
- Manufacturing experience (strongly preferred)
- Welding/working with sheet metal (strongly preferred). A welding test will be part of the interview process
- Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret drawings
- Knowledge of raw materials (plastics, metals), production processes, and techniques would be a strong asset
Schedule:
- 8-hour shift
- Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm
