Learn-to-Skate Coach — Ice and Roller Skating

About SkatingHour
SkatingHour is a Learn-to-Skate program for children, teens, and adults across Ontario. Our sessions are fun, supportive, and designed to help participants build confidence on the ice and on wheels.
We believe learning to skate should feel enjoyable and encouraging—not stressful or overly competitive.
About the Role
We are looking for friendly, energetic, and enthusiastic skating coaches to lead Learn-to-Skate sessions at multiple locations across Toronto and the GTA.
Each session is approximately 50 minutes. Coaches may choose locations and schedules based on their availability.
Previous coaching experience is not required. We provide training and session guidance to help you prepare for your classes.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead Learn-to-Skate sessions for children and adults of varying skill levels
- Teach skating fundamentals, including balance, stopping, gliding, turning, and basic skating techniques
- Create a fun, positive, encouraging, and safe learning environment
- Support participants who need additional help or confidence-building
- Follow all SkatingHour safety procedures and session guidelines
- Monitor student participation and progress
- Complete a brief feedback report after each session
- Communicate professionally with the SkatingHour team
Requirements
- Must be at least 17 years of age
- Strong foundation in ice skating, roller skating, or inline skating
- Comfortable skating independently on the ice or rink floor
- Energetic, patient, reliable, and comfortable working with beginners
- Able to work with children, teens, and adults
- Punctual and committed to scheduled sessions
- Willing to complete a background check
- Access to a car is considered a strong asset, as sessions are offered at multiple locations across the GTA
