We are looking for a Talent Acquisition Lead to join our growing team and take ownership of building our recruiting function as we scale from 30 to 60 employees.
About the Role
As the Talent Acquisition Lead, you will own the full-cycle recruiting strategy and execution across technical and business functions. You will work closely with our founders and leadership team to attract exceptional talent and build the foundation of Venn’s Talent Acquisition function.
This role will have a strong focus on technical recruiting (60–70% of the role) including software engineering, backend engineering, product, and design roles.
You will be a hands-on individual contributor responsible for developing sourcing strategies, improving recruiting processes, and delivering an outstanding candidate experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the complete recruitment lifecycle from sourcing to offer acceptance.
- Partner directly with founders, executives, and hiring managers to understand talent needs.
- Develop and execute proactive sourcing strategies for technical and non-technical roles.
- Build talent pipelines through LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search, AI sourcing tools, and outbound recruiting.
- Hire top engineering, product, design, and business talent.
- Create and improve recruiting processes, workflows, and systems from the ground up.
- Manage candidate experience and ensure strong communication throughout the hiring process.
- Leverage AI and recruiting technology to improve efficiency and sourcing effectiveness.
- Act as a talent advisor and help shape Venn’s hiring strategy as the company grows.
QualificationsRequired Experience
- 3–5 years of full-cycle recruiting experience.
- 2–3 years of recruiting agency experience combined with 1–2 years of in-house recruiting at an early-stage technology company.
- Proven track record hiring software engineers and technical talent.
- Experience as a founding recruiter, first recruiter, or sole recruiter building a recruiting function.
- Experience scaling teams within high-growth startups (Seed to Series B preferred).
- Experience recruiting for fast-paced technology companies.
Required Skills
- Strong technical recruiting background with experience hiring engineers.
- Advanced sourcing skills using LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search, and outbound strategies.
- Experience with ATS platforms (Ashby experience preferred).
- Experience using AI-powered sourcing and recruiting tools such as Clay, Juicebox, Harmonic, or similar.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and candidate management skills.
- Ability to attract candidates and sell the opportunity of an in-office startup environment.
- Highly independent, proactive, and comfortable owning recruiting end-to-end.
Work Requirements
- Must be based in Toronto, Ontario.
- Must be comfortable working on-site 5 days per week at our Adelaide & Spadina office.
- Comfortable operating as an individual contributor for the first 6–12 months.
- Able to work independently and make an immediate impact.

Pay: $110,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
