The Carpenter will be responsible for completing a variety of carpentry and renovation tasks, including framing, backing, blocking, doors, trim, drywall-related carpentry, exterior work, decks, repairs, commercial improvements, and general construction duties.
This position is best suited for someone who is hands-on, organized, able to problem solve on site, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a small crew.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete carpentry work to a professional standard
- Read and understand basic drawings, measurements, layouts, and work scopes
- Perform framing, blocking, backing, trim, doors, hardware, decks, repairs, and general renovation work
- Assist with residential and commercial renovation projects
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, clients, subtrades, and team members
- Identify site issues, material needs, and potential change-order items
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable construction standards
- Use tools, materials, and equipment properly and safely
- Represent the company professionally while on site
Requirements
- Red Seal Carpenter certification preferred
- Strong carpentry and renovation experience
- Valid driver’s licence
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites
- Basic personal hand tools and tool belt
- Ability to read measurements, use layout tools, and work accurately
- Ability to lift materials and perform physically demanding construction tasks
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Dependable, punctual, and professional
- Able to work safely around clients, staff, subtrades, and active job sites
- Willingness to complete safety training as required
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
- Employment may be subject to reference checks and job-related screening where required
Assets
- Experience with commercial renovations or tenant fit-ups
- Experience with decks, exterior repairs, siding, doors, windows, drywall, or finish carpentry
- Ability to lead small crews or mentor apprentices
- Fall protection, WHMIS, first aid, or other safety certifications
- Experience coordinating with subtrades
- Ability to work from drawings or written scopes of work
