About the Opportunity
This is more than a traditional associate role. We are looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, values client relationships, and is motivated by the opportunity to develop a thriving Family Law portfolio within a well-established firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a broad range of family law matters, including:
- Divorce and separation
- Parenting and decision-making responsibility
- Child and spousal support
- Property division
- Domestic contracts
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, case conferences, settlement conferences, motions, and court proceedings.
- Provide practical, strategic, and compassionate legal advice tailored to each client's circumstances.
- Draft pleadings, affidavits, financial statements, agreements, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and communication.
- Collaborate with colleagues across our Corporate, Employment, Real Estate, and Wills and Estates practice areas to provide comprehensive legal solutions for clients.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- A minimum of three years' experience practising Family Law in Ontario.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage a family law caseload.
- Strong advocacy, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills.
- Excellent legal research, drafting, analytical, and organizational abilities.
- Exceptional communication skills with a client-focused approach.
- Experience with family court procedures and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), including mediation.
Pay: $75,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
