Workplace TASK (Training in Attitudes, Skills and Knowledge) is a program that offers students with disabilities the opportunity to learn self-management and employment skills. The Program Assistant assists potential and new TASK and ABE students with application and funding opportunities. They provide confidential administrative support, classroom support, and markets the program to external agencies and businesses.
The Program Assistant supports TASK students by arranging training and vocational tours, accompanying the student on the tours. The Assistant also supports the TASK instructor by establishing and monitoring work experience placements.
This position is based in Chilliwack, however training will take place at the Abbotsford campus.
- Completion of two (2) years’ post-secondary education in Human Services, Adult Education, Teacher Education or in a related field of study
- Minimum two (2) years’ work experience in an office setting
- Minimum one (1) year experience working with people with disabilities
- Proven ability to use all applications of MS Office Suite and a variety of social media
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience working with confidential material
- Knowledge of UFV and its communities
- Experience working with community agencies, businesses, and organizations
- Experience in planning and executing events, including logistics, marketing, and facilitation.
- Ability to travel within the community for vocational tours, worksite visits, and presentations.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
