Located in Ucluelet on the edge of Pacific Rim National Park, Black Rock Oceanfront Resort combines rugged coastal beauty with modern comfort. Our resort offers guests a luxury West Coast experience through our oceanfront accommodations, spa, and restaurants, Big Beach Lounge and Currents. Black Rock Resort resides within the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ – Ucluelet First Nation traditional territory, of whose ancestral lands we work and play.
Responsibilities:
On a day-to-day basis you will:
- Be present on the floor: Actively engage with Guests in the dining room to ensure their experiences are thoughtful, memorable, and exceed expectations.
- Lead and inspire the team: Support a diverse team by setting clear protocols, providing training, managing schedules, and recognizing excellent performance.
- Manage operations: Oversee daily tasks such as opening and closing systems, inventory management, purchasing, and menu updates for seamless service delivery.
- Wine expertise: Curate and manage the wine list, ensuring it complements the menu and enhances the dining experience.
- Financial oversight: Monitor food and beverage costs, lead sales initiatives, and make sound decisions to ensure the restaurant's financial success.
This role works closely with our Food & Beverage Manager, Executive Chef and other team members to succeed.
We are looking for:
Education/Experience
- 2+ years of leadership experience in a food and beverage role, with a strong background in fine dining or serving preferred.
- Responsible Beverage Service Certificate (Serving It Right) Required
- Some formal Hospitality Industry education is an asset
- Knowledge of Wines and Spirits
- Understanding of food and beverage costing and inventory management
- Standard Cash Handling
- FOODSAFE certification is an asset
