Job Summary
The Distribution Centre Supervisor is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and executing all warehouse and distribution center operations, including order picking, shipping, receiving, and inventory control. This role ensures that customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with standard operating procedures, safety standards, and company policies.
The Distribution Supervisor leads warehouse staff, optimizes workflow, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to improve operational efficiency and meet customer demand.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Workflow Management
- Oversee daily distribution center operations, including order picking, staging, loading, and shipping.
- Ensure all customer orders are processed accurately and within required timelines.
- Organize and optimize the flow of goods within the warehouse, including receiving, storage, and dispatch.
- Route materials and supplies to appropriate inspection or storage areas.
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, productivity, and workflow.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Supervise, schedule, and lead warehouse staff in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment.
- Delegate tasks related to shipping, receiving, and inventory handling.
- Evaluate employee performance, provide coaching, and administer disciplinary actions when required.
- Support hiring, training, development, and retention of team members.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Inventory & Logistics Coordination
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure proper stock rotation and storage.
- Work closely with the Inventory Control team on product movement, slotting, and inventory accuracy.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, including LTL carriers and transportation providers.
- Monitor carrier performance and support logistics planning.
Customer & Stakeholder Support
- Respond to customer work orders and ensure service expectations are met.
- Address customer concerns, resolve issues, and escalate when necessary.
- Collaborate with internal departments to align distribution activities with business needs.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, SOPs, and OHS requirements.
- Maintain a safe working environment, including proper use of PPE in cold storage conditions.
- Conduct ongoing training and coaching to reinforce safe work practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 3–5+ years of leadership experience in a distribution center or warehouse environment.
- Experience supervising teams of 15+ employees, ideally in a multi-shift operation.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, including receiving, shipping, inventory control, and transportation.
- Experience coordinating inbound and outbound LTL carriers and managing logistics performance.
- Knowledge of distribution technologies and warehouse management systems is an asset.
- Proven ability to meet and exceed operational goals and performance metrics.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, stand-up reach trucks, and stock pickers.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (with assistance as required)
- Prolonged periods of walking, standing, and bending
- Work in cold storage environments (up to -20°C, PPE provided)
- Average work week of 44+ hours, with overtime as required
- Fast-paced, physically demanding warehouse environment

Compensation
At Chapman’s, compensation is guided by a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes and rewards individual contributions.
Salary / Wages
$60,000 to $78,000 per year
