Job Summary
Single Source Project Management Inc. is seeking a reliable and experienced Civil Labourer / Septic Field Labourer to support civil construction, septic-related work, site preparation, excavation support, labour tasks, and general field operations.
This position may require work on both sides of the border in Canada and the United States. The successful candidate must be legally able to travel for work and must be able to meet border-crossing requirements.
Preference will be given to candidates with septic experience and additional equipment operating experience.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Supporting civil construction and septic field operations.
- Assisting with excavation, trenching, backfilling, grading, site preparation, and cleanup.
- Supporting septic installation, repair, maintenance, or related field work.
- Assisting operators, foremen, supervisors, and crews with daily field tasks.
- Handling tools, materials, hoses, fittings, shovels, plates, pipe, and other equipment as required.
- Performing labour duties around hydrovacs, excavation equipment, trucks, trailers, and field equipment.
- Maintaining clean and organized work areas, trucks, tools, and equipment.
- Completing or assisting with FLHAs, pre-job hazard assessments, toolbox meetings, inspections, and other required field documents.
- Following company safety procedures, client site rules, and regulatory requirements.
- Identifying hazards, reporting unsafe conditions, and stopping work when required.
- Assisting with traffic control, spotting, material handling, and equipment setup where required.
- Travelling to project locations in Canada and the U.S. as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- Previous civil labour experience.
- Previous septic-related experience.
- Ability to legally travel for work between Canada and the United States.
- Clean criminal record or ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physical labour, including lifting, carrying, shovelling, walking, bending, and working on uneven ground.
- Strong attention to safety and documentation.
- Ability to follow direction and work as part of a crew.
- Willingness to travel and work project-based schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
Priority will be given to candidates with:
- Equipment operating experience.
- Skid steer, mini excavator, loader, packer, or similar equipment experience.
- Septic installation or septic system repair experience.
- Excavation or underground utility experience.
- Hydrovac or combo vac experience.
- Ground Disturbance.
- CSTS.
- WHMIS.
- First Aid.
- H2S Alive.
- Confined Space.
- TDG.
- Traffic control or spotting experience.
- Experience working around pipelines, utilities, civil construction, or remote field projects.
Work Conditions
This position may involve:
- Work in Canada and the United States.
- Travel for out-of-town projects.
- Outdoor work in heat, cold, rain, snow, mud, and dusty conditions.
- Physical labour and use of hand tools.
- Work around excavation equipment, trucks, trailers, hydrovacs, septic systems, and active construction areas.
- PPE use at all times as required by company and client policy.
