Overview
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Maintenance Worker to join our team. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation and safety of our commercial (no residential) facilities through routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a well-maintained environment while developing valuable skills in maintenance and facilities management. The candidate must have their own vehicle and reside within a reasonable distance of our sites in Durham.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of equipment and building systems to identify issues before they escalate
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair needs
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe for all staff and visitors
- On very rare occasions you may be required to be on site if the fire alarm goes off in one of the buildings, this could happen after hours
- Oversee and manage sub-trades i.e. snow plow operators, grass cutting, roofers etc.
Experience
- Prior experience in general maintenance, facilities management, or a related field is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, or mechanical repairs is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
Pay: $17.20-$31.40 per hour
