Position Summary
We're seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to join our dynamic team and help safeguard our information systems. Reporting to the Supervisor, Cybersecurity Services, you'll play a crucial role in managing security risks in alignment with our organizational mission and risk tolerance.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
As a Cybersecurity Analyst, you will be at the forefront of our defence, with responsibilities including:

Threat Detection Monitoring: Monitor our Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) system, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system, and other cybersecurity tools to identify, alert on, and report security statuses
- Alert Triage Escalation: Investigate security anomalies, develop efficient alert triage processes, and escalate critical alerts based on established protocols

Incident Response: Actively participate as a member of the Incident Response Team, maintaining documentation and meticulously recording all facts, actions, and findings during incident activations

Vulnerability Threat Management: Perform vulnerability assessments and assist with remediation tracking. Assist with security assessments of systems, applications, and cloud services. Review threat intelligence, security advisories, and emerging cybersecurity risks

Identity Access Security: Support monitoring of authentication activity and suspicious sign-in behaviour. Investigate account compromise and unauthorized access incidents
- Privacy Compliance: Contribute to reports on information access and privacy protection, and provide expert assistance to staff and departments in preparing Privacy Impact assessments (PIAs) to ensure the security and privacy of all Division information, including third-party applications

Reporting Analysis: Analyze data from audits and monitoring tools to inform our annual report to the Board of Trustees

Training Awareness: Assist in coordinating and developing cybersecurity training materials, respond to inquiries, and leverage all available communication channels to promote a security-conscious culture

Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a go-to cybersecurity subject matter expert, offering guidance and insights across the organization
Education/Qualifications
We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual with:
-
a diploma in a related field, such as Information Security Management
-
knowledge and experience with Security monitoring and incident response processes, Vulnerability management practices, Endpoint, network, cloud, and identity security concepts, Security best practices and operational procedures
-
security certification such as CISSP, GIAC, CEH, CCSK, ITIL, SSCP, or equivalent
-
minimum of three years of direct cybersecurity-related experience
-
exceptional communication and presentation abilities
-
strong analytical and problem-solving skills
-
a strong understanding of:

Cybersecurity threats, phishing, malware, and attack techniques

TCP/IP networks, OSI Stack

Firewalls and Proxies

Routing and Switching

Operating Systems

EDR, NDR, SIEM, IDS/IPS

knowledge and experience with the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and Access to Information Act (ATIA).
Rate of Pay
$43.40 - $55.42 per hour
