Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Service Writer to join our automotive service team. The Service Writer acts as the primary point of contact for customers, accurately documenting vehicle issues, explaining repair options, and ensuring a seamless service experience. This role requires strong communication skills, automotive knowledge, and the ability to upsell services to enhance customer satisfaction and store revenue.
Duties
- Greet customers promptly and professionally upon arrival and during the vehicle check-in process
- Listen carefully to customer concerns and accurately document vehicle issues
- Explain repair recommendations clearly, including necessary services and available options
- Collaborate with technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of work
- Upsell additional services or maintenance based on customer needs and vehicle condition
- Handle cash transactions accurately and process payments efficiently
- Maintain detailed service records in the dealership management system
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns
- Assist in promoting dealership services, parts, and accessories to maximize sales opportunities
Experience
- Automotive experience is highly preferred, with a strong understanding of automotive repair processes
- Mechanic experience or mechanical knowledge is a significant advantage, enabling better communication with technicians and customers
- Proven customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients
- Experience in sales or upselling additional services or products effectively
- Familiarity with cash handling procedures and point-of-sale systems is desirable
- Prior experience working in an automotive environment will help ensure success in this role
