Quarry Lead Hand – Limestone Quarry Operations
Severn, Ontario
We are currently seeking an experienced Quarry Lead Hand to join our limestone quarry operations in Severn, Ontario. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with strong knowledge of quarrying operations, equipment, extraction practices, and team supervision.
The successful candidate will help oversee daily quarry activities while ensuring production targets, safety standards, and operational efficiencies are maintained.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise quarry personnel in daily operations
- Coordinate limestone extraction and production activities
- Operate and oversee heavy equipment and quarry machinery
- Monitor quarry faces, extraction limits, grades, and production areas
- Ensure safe work practices and compliance with company policies and OHSA requirements
- Assist with scheduling, workflow coordination, and crew direction
- Conduct equipment inspections and report maintenance requirements
- Train and mentor employees on safe and efficient work practices
- Work closely with management to maintain productivity and operational goals
- Troubleshoot operational issues as they arise
Qualifications
- **Previous experience in quarry operations required**
- Strong understanding of quarry extraction methods and production processes
- Experience operating and supervising heavy equipment in a quarry environment
- Knowledge of quarry limits, grades, blasting/extraction practices, and material handling
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment
- Mechanically inclined with troubleshooting abilities considered an asset
- Valid driver’s licence required
- Health & Safety focused mindset
Assets
- Experience with crushing operations
- Experience supervising crews or acting as a lead hand/foreman
- Heavy equipment operation
- Working knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures
