Position Summary
The Kincardine Family Health Organization is a group of family physicians who work together to provide access to primary care to our community. The role of a family practice Reception staff person is to coordinate patient and physician schedules, practice invoice collection, file management, completing forms, processing third-party and uninsured billings and general administrative and office organization.
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Answer multi-line phones and either direct the caller to the appropriate party or handle the caller’s needs yourself
- Greet patients upon arrival, register the patient and confirm demographic information is current (address, phone number, consent to leave messages, OHIP information)
- Schedule appointments for patients based on physician availability and scheduling preferences
- Provide patients with forms as well as copies of relevant office policies
- Process payments from patients for co-pays and uninsured visits
- Maintain update-to-date patient electronic medical record (EMR)
- Call patients to remind them of upcoming appointments and to help the patient coordinate/navigate testing for off-site services (i.e. lab)
- Provide patients with support and guidance as needed
- Significant amounts of multi-tasking and interruptions
- Other duties and responsibilities as determined and communicated
Education and Experience
- Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma
- Previous experience working in a healthcare environment
- Previous EMR experience preferred (Telus – PS Suite)
Knowledge and Skills
- Solid problem-solving skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgement
- Strong computer skills to facilitate the use of electronic medical records
- Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
- Proficient time management, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a busy multidisciplinary team

Overview
· A typical workday may consist of up to an eight (8) hour day, with 60-minutes unpaid for lunch. Schedules will vary but hours are normally from 8:30am to 4:30pm Mondays to Thursday, occasionally Fridays and no guaranteed hours.
· Salary $20/hour
