Develop methods, selection criteria and performance objectives for the vehicle from a powertrain and drivetrain perspective
- Develop vehicle specifications for performance, quality and durability for internal use and external specifications – source packages as required
- Develop and manage prototype and production component selection
- Develop and manage vehicle integration – vehicle controls and power management
- Develop and manage testing and validation requirements
- Design and engineer systems for vehicle functionality as required
- Develop wire harness/connections as required
- Take a lead role in vehicle design and direction from a performance/range and functionality perspective
- Manage team resources as required with direction and accountability
- Create departmental objectives which align with overall project goals and milestones
- Work collaboratively with all departments in order to achieve results
- Identify QPO – Quality Performance Objectives for long term vehicle sustainability
- Support and help develop systems engineering quality validation expectations
- Develop other resources as required for project success
- Manage supply chain – critical component engineering and vendor selection
- Provide Engineering reports / summaries and or direction for Executive Management Review as required
- Plan & drive strategic priorities
- Ensures the strategy (timeline/milestones) is well communicated with stakeholders for alignment and meeting objectives
- Facilitate project status meetings with stakeholders
- Monitors and manages all key dates and timing charts as required
- Identify roadblocks and recommend appropriate resolutions
- Manages information internally as required by the project
- Responsible for timely communication of information and escalate necessary updates
- Ensures successful project launch – on time & on budget
Post-secondary degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years’ experience in electro-mechanical engineering, powertrain development or related field
- Subject Matter Expert in Mechanical and Control Systems
- Impeccable oral and written communication & presentation skills, with the ability to interface with senior management
- Strong relationship building skills (internal & external stakeholders)
- Proactive view to identifying & driving financial benefits for assigned projects
- Proven successful launches of previous programs (on time & on budget)
- Ability to think & execute strategically and is results oriented
- Self-motivated individual with a strong attention to detail
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi task as required
- Experience in the Automotive Industry is an asset
The Manager, Powertrain Development will take responsibility in the development of powertrain architecture for vehicle development within Axiom. The incumbent will be responsible for Powertrain/drivetrain development- consisting of, but not be limited to – electric motor drive selection, electric motor selection, batteries/electrical software/hardware and all other items required for the propulsion of the vehicle for commercial sale.
