Grooming Operator – Grade 3/Winch
Reports To: Grooming/Snowmaking Supervisor and/or Assistant Grooming Supervisor(s)
Position Overview
Grade 3/Winch Grooming Operators work as part of the Mountain Operations team. They have at least 2 full winter seasons of ski area snowcat operating experience and a minimum of 120 hours of tower winch snowcat operating experience and are responsible for safe and efficient operation of a Prinoth snowcat to help maintain the slopes under the direction of the Grooming/Snowmaking Supervisor and/or Assistant Grooming Supervisor(s).
Grade 3/Winch Grooming Operator candidates will have demonstrated the ability to groom all runs at Marmot Basin, are experienced with all of Marmot Basin’s grooming circuits, can lead/oversee Grade 2 Operators and lead special grooming projects. Grade 3/Winch Grooming Operators will have demonstrate the ability/aptitude to independently operate a tower-winch snowcat and will be familiar with winch cat operations at Marmot Basin.
The incumbent should expect to be working outside in any, all and sometimes adverse weather conditions and must be available to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
This is a full-time seasonal role, 4 afternoons/evenings out of 7 per week from October to May each operating season. Please note that you may not receive full-time hours at the beginning/ end of the season and during other slow periods. Alberta Employment Standards regarding probationary periods apply.
Job duties/ Responsibilities:
- Help manage the quality of our groomed runs by operating Marmot Basin’s entire fleet of Prinoth snowcats
- Attend and complete all training in a timely manner
- Report for scheduled shifts
- Lead/oversee Grade 1 & Grade 2 operators, lead and/or independently manage special grooming projects
- Operate Marmot Basin’s tower winch cat
- Work in a safe efficient manner; point out any safety concerns that would put any employee or guest in an unsafe situation
- Any additional duties as assigned
- Adherence to the company’s practices and procedures as set in the ‘Grooming Training Manual’
- All Marmot Basin employees will conduct themselves in compliance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation as it relates to their job
