Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide high-quality care and support to children and patients in a healthcare or educational setting. The PSW will work closely with medical professionals, educators, and families to promote well-being, assist with daily activities, and support developmental needs. This role is vital in ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for children with special needs or medical requirements, including those in pediatric or hospital settings. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, knowledge of medical terminology, and a strong commitment to patient care and case management.
Responsibilities
- Assist children and patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support
- Support children with special educational needs through personalized care plans and behavioral assistance
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to implement patient care strategies and monitor progress
- Collect data related to patient or student health status, development milestones, and behavioral observations
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, progress notes, and relevant case management records
- Support hospital or clinical staff by preparing treatment areas and assisting during medical procedures
- Use knowledge of medical terminology to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals
- Participate in research activities related to pediatric health or patient care improvements
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and infection control procedures
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in healthcare or educational settings is highly preferred
- Experience in hospital environments or pediatric care is advantageous
- Familiarity with research methodologies related to pediatrics or patient care is beneficial
- Knowledge of case management practices and data collection techniques is desirable
- Background in special education or working with children with developmental challenges is a plus
- Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to pediatric or patient care roles
- Demonstrated ability to provide patient-centered care with compassion and professionalism
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
