We are seeking an experienced, hands-on, and detail-oriented Controller to lead the financial and accounting operations of our dealership. This role is responsible for financial reporting, payroll, compliance, budgeting, and internal controls, while partnering with leadership to support profitability and strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements in accordance with dealership and OEM requirements
Oversee daily accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, and month/year-end close
Monitor cash flow, expenses, profitability, and departmental performance
Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with regulatory, banking, and manufacturer standards
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Oversee inventory accounting, floor plan schedules, and asset reconciliation
Coordinate audits, tax filings, insurance reviews, and benefits administration
Serve as the primary contact for IT and technical support vendors
Lead and mentor accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and productivity
Collaborate with Sales, Service, and Parts departments to improve financial performance and reporting
Qualifications
3–7+ years of accounting experience; dealership or automotive experience strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of dealership accounting systems (PBS preferred) and advanced Excel skills
Experience with payroll processes and regulations (ADP experience preferred)
Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance
CPA designation and/or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

Compensation & Work Environment
Salary: $100,000–$140,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications
Location: In person
Extended hours may occasionally be required during month-end and year-end closing periods
