Our client is seeking a Material Handling Technician to support safe and efficient operations at a manufacturing facility on a 12-month assignment. This role focuses on material handling, warehouse operations, rail yard coordination, and production support in a team-oriented, safety-first environment.
What's the Job?
- Build and package products, including boxing, staging, and storing in the warehouse
- Operate forklifts, perform pre-use inspections, and handle loading/unloading of trailers and containers
- Stage additives and materials to meet production needs and maintain accurate SAP inventory records
- Support raw material coordination by monitoring stock levels and providing inventory feedback
- Receive materials, review Certificates of Analysis (C of A), and perform sampling when required
- Complete SAP documentation and maintain accurate electronic logs
- Load and unload shipments and support packaging operations as needed
- Participate in shift start meetings and contribute to a safe work environment
- Inspect inbound railcars, manage rail movements, and maintain yard organization
- Perform minor railcar maintenance and coordinate repairs when necessary
- Assist with hopper car loading, inspection, cleaning, and sealing
- Operate a locomotive for on-site rail movements
- Support polymer operations, including filter changes, pump oil monitoring, and product transport
What's Needed?
- Secondary (high school) diploma or equivalent
- Forklift experience is an asset
- Post-secondary education is considered an asset
- Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to safety standards, including Responsible Care® principles
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Willingness to comply with safety requirements, including drug & alcohol testing, mask fit testing, and driver’s abstract
