Dog Daycare & Sanctuary Care Team Member
The Woofer Walkers Doggy Daycare Resort & Sanctuary – Richmond, BC
Do you love dogs enough to handle the messy, noisy, chaotic, muddy, wet, and sometimes downright exhausting side of caring for them?
We’re not looking for someone who just wants to sit around petting puppies all day. This role is active, physical, and demanding. Some days are long and routine, some are loud and unpredictable, and others are full of muddy paws, wet fur, and big personalities.
But every day, you’ll be part of something meaningful: keeping our Woofers safe, happy, and cared for while helping us run a business whose profits go directly toward caring for our 22 rescue sanctuary dogs.
Who We Are
The Woofer Walkers Doggy Daycare Resort & Sanctuary is Richmond’s only tropical-themed, award-winning doggy daycare and sanctuary. We’ve been voted Best of Richmond six years in a row. Alongside our daycare, we provide lifelong sanctuary for dogs who need a safe home forever. Every daycare shift helps us continue this rescue work.
What the Job Looks Like
- Supervising groups of dogs in play yards and keeping them safe, calm, and social
- Handling the chaos: barking, romping, splashing, and sometimes squabbling
- Cleaning… and cleaning some more (poop, pee, mud, drool, hair — you name it)
- Feeding, administering medications, and basic dog care duties
- Helping with daily routines: check-ins, check-outs, and enrichment activities
- Supporting our sanctuary Woofers with compassion and patience
What We’re Looking For
- Absolute reliability. You must show up every single shift, on time, with a positive attitude. The Woofers depend on you — if you’re not here, they don’t get the care they need
- People who will actively engage with the dogs — this is not a job for sitting around
- Dog-savvy individuals who understand canine body language and pack dynamics
- Physically capable of a demanding job (walking, lifting, bending, cleaning)
- Comfortable with dirty work — this is not a “sit and snuggle” role (though there are snuggles too)
- A calm, positive presence in chaotic situations
- Previous dog handling, daycare, kennel, or vet experience is an asset
