Accounting Manager

Build the Finance Function for a Growing Company
Delco Elevator Products is a rapidly growing distributor serving elevator contractors across Canada and the United States. We are looking for an Accounting Manager to take ownership of our accounting function and help build the financial systems needed to support our next stage of growth.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys creating order from complexity, improving processes, implementing automations and taking accountability for results.
The role
This is a hands-on job. You are the accounting department. You will enter the invoices, run the payroll, file the remittances, reconcile the accounts, and close the month — reporting directly to the President.
What you'll own:
- Full-cycle accounting, end to end
- AP: entry, coding, payment runs, vendor reconciliations
- AR: direction and oversight, with support and collections done by our admin & sales teams
- Canadian payroll and all statutory remittances — source deductions, GST/HST, WorkSafeBC
- US sales tax filing via Avalara
- Bank and credit card reconciliation (Float)
- Month-end close and the financial statement package
- Year-end file preparation with our external tax firm
- The inFlow-to-QBO connection, including inventory and COGS accuracy
What Success Looks Like
- Accurate and reliable financial records.
- Customer and vendor accounts that reconcile consistently.
- Timely month-end reporting.
- Strong control of cash, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Documented, repeatable accounting processes.
- Continuous improvement of systems, reporting and efficiency.
- A finance function trusted by management and capable of supporting a $30 million business.
Qualifications
- 6+ years in full-cycle accounting, including month-end close
- You have been the only accountant, or the most senior person actually doing the work. This role has no one above you and no one beside you in year one.
- Canadian payroll and statutory remittances, done by you
- QuickBooks Online expert level fluency
- Comfortable working directly with a CEO who is not an accountant, and able to explain things in plain language without jargon
- Based in Metro Vancouver — this role is on-site in Burnaby
- Experience in distribution, wholesale, construction, inventory
- Experience leading accounting cleanups and improving processes
Strong assets
- ERP experience integration with QBO
- Cross-border Canada/US, FX, banking, taxation
- Automations, technology, finance software tools such as Float
- CPA, or equivalent depth of hands-on experience
