The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) has an opportunity for a
gynecological oncologist.
In this position the successful candidate will work within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology Island Health, the University of British Columbia, and the BC Cancer Agency. The scope of the role includes clinical services, administration and academic responsibilities.
Clinical services include new patient visits/consults and the appropriate medical/surgical care, associated follow-up visits and ongoing monitoring. The Gynecological Oncologist undertakes colposcopic procedures and the associated treatment procedures resulting from colposcopy procedures for the early detection/prevention of cancer. The provision of on-call services in Gynecology Oncology in Victoria is required.
The successful candidate will participate in the gynaecology tumour group at the BCCA and participate in the evaluation of the efficiency, quality and delivery of the services, including and without limiting the generality of the foregoing, participation in medical audits, peer and interdisciplinary reviews, chart reviews, and incident report reviews.
As a faculty member within the UBC Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, the successful candidate will be expected to involve learners in all aspects of clinical activity, participate in program development and student evaluation. As well, supporting research and investigation in Gynaecologic Oncology and participation in continuing professional development will be essential.
