This position is responsible for financial analysis, financial reconciliation, budget preparation, business process analysis and specific project duties. This position undertakes financial analysis and reconciliation, primarily in matters pertaining to accounts receivable, asset management and related revenues and expenditure. In addition, this position may be required to prepare a variety of financial reports, statements, and year/period end working papers. The position holder may be tasked with preparation of annual, provisional, operating and capital budgets, investigation and correction of budget variances, and preparation of supporting information for presentation of financial information to senior management. Project work can necessitate the need to recommend system and business process changes and provide assistance in the development and implementation of modifications to accounting, billing, and reporting systems. As part of this work, they will be responsible for documenting procedures, and performing a variety of special or non-recurring accounting tasks as assigned. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, plus considerable related financial analysis experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A sound working knowledge of the principles, practices, procedures, and systems applicable to receivable, budget and accounting operations is preferred. In addition, municipal government experience will be an advantage. Additional skills and experience includes the ability to analyze, prepare, and present a variety of financial and statistical reports and data; establish priorities, plan and organize work to meet established objectives, goals, and statutory deadlines; analyze financial and related system designs and specifications to identify potential control deficiencies and to recommend modifications as required; and exercise sound independent judgement in resolving financial and budgeting problems and analyzing operations.
This is a Temporary Full Time position until September 30, 2024.
