Position: Compliance Officer
Location: Onsite position in Waterloo, ON
Employment Status: Full Time
Pay Range: $70,000-$80,000 /year
CareKW is in immediate need of an organized and dedicated Compliance Officer to join our staff. We are looking for candidates with experience in ensuring compliance with healthcare legislation, privacy laws, and professional standards.
This individual should have experience with writing corporate policies and have project management experience to monitor and drive multiple objectives. They should have experience overseeing incident reporting and follow up investigations. The job requires exemplary attention to detail, with the ability to coordinate and lead multiple priorities.
The Compliance Officer plays an important role in the CareKW team. They help oversee compliance requirements across the entire organization. If you have strong organizational skills and the ability to drive deadlines, please apply!
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with healthcare legislation, privacy laws, and professional standards.
- Monitor documentation and charting practices.
- Oversee incident reporting and follow-up investigations.
- Ensure staff maintain required certifications and mandatory education.
- Monitor infection prevention and control compliance.
- Support accreditation readiness.
- Review contracts, vendor relationships, and conflict-of-interest disclosures.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.
- Participate in quality assurance and patient safety committees.
- Conduct internal reviews related to billing, documentation, and regulatory standards.
- Identify risks and implements appropriate actions to mitigate them.
- Develop and maintains compliance information for analysis and reporting.
- Consult on new products, services and automated systems to assist with incorporating compliance requirements into these initiatives.
- Analyze and report on compliance data to gain insights on regulatory risk.
- Perform and/or effectively challenges monitoring and testing activities to ensure regulatory compliance controls are operating and aligned to regulatory requirements.
- Elevate high profile issues to management for prompt resolution.
- Develop and maintain a high level of expertise in all regulations, directives and guidance which apply to the group(s) supported.
- Manage compliance timelines related to all business groups and regulatory bodies.
- Anticipate/identify and analyze risk and consequences of unaddressed risk factors/ compliance gaps and recommend appropriate controls.
The Successful Candidate Will:
- Possess a valid work permit.
- Hold a valid G driver's license.
- Have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Hold a PMP or other project management certification or experience.
- Hold a HCCA certification
- Have a minimum of 5 years' experience in compliance or regulatory roles.
- Demonstrate a data driven decision making mindset.
- Showcase strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate proficiency using computer software.
- Exhibit strong leadership skills.
- Exemplify communication, organization, time management, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
