This position is for our After School Program and Lunch relief educator.
All Early Childhood Educator Positions require the following qualifications:
- Two Year Early Childhood Education diploma or equivalent approved by the provincial licensing process.
- First Aid and CPR certified. Level C
- Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, ability to abide by code of ethics.
- Ability to effectively interact and relate to children in a developmentally appropriate manner.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation such as, The Child Care and Early Years Act and How Does Learning Happen, pedagogical document. The policies and procedures to ensure that children are supervised and safe at all times.
- Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector criminal reference check.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.

The Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) is responsible for the planning and delivery of inclusive emergent play-based learning and care programs for children from Infancy to School Age. RECE will be supporting children’s learning, development, health and well being, by guiding and instructing children, in a variety of educational and life skills. The RECE will use the professional learning resource guide How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years, to support pedagogy within their curriculum planning by using The Four Foundations of HDLH. The Four Foundations of Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression will deliver programs that value and build on the children’s strengths and abilities. This will allow the children to grow and flourish and be curious within their environment. The RECE will create an engaging environment and experiences to foster children’s learning and development, including hygiene, feeding, exercise and play. The RECE supervises activities, such as field trips, group discussions, and dramatic play, to stimulate children’s interest in and broaden understanding of their physical and social environment. She/he fosters cooperative social behaviour through games and group projects to assist children in forming satisfying relationships with other children and adults. The RECE alternates periods of strenuous activity with periods of rest or light activity to avoid overstimulation and fatigue. The RECE will value and actively have discussions with parents with legal custody and other participants (with signed consent) to ensure constant communication about the child(ren) development. The RECE will be part of discussions, to have side by side mentoring with the Executive Director and/or Staffing Director.
