Licensed Plumber – Service & Installation Technician

Position Summary
The Licensed Plumber will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and installing plumbing systems in residential and commercial environments. The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively with other trades while maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing systems and fixtures.
Diagnose plumbing issues and determine effective repair solutions.
Perform service calls, emergency repairs, and preventative maintenance.
Install and service water heaters, pumps, water treatment systems, and drainage systems.
Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings.
Perform rough-in and finish plumbing installations for renovation and new construction projects.
Test plumbing systems for leaks, pressure, and code compliance.
Ensure all work complies with applicable plumbing codes, health and safety regulations, and company standards.
Complete digital service reports, inspection forms, and work orders accurately.
Communicate professionally with customers regarding repairs, recommendations, and project status.
Maintain company vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory.
Collaborate with HVAC technicians, gas fitters, apprentices, and project managers as required.
Participate in on-call rotation and emergency service response when required.
Required Qualifications:
Valid Ontario Plumber License (306A Construction and Maintenance Plumber or equivalent provincial certification).
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Minimum 3–5 years of plumbing service and installation experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of plumbing codes and industry best practices.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials safely.
Comfortable using mobile devices and field service software for documentation and reporting.
Technical Skills
Preferred Experience with:
Domestic water distribution systems
Sanitary and storm drainage systems
Backflow prevention systems
Sump pumps and sewage ejector systems
Water heaters (tank and tankless)
Hydronic heating systems (an asset)
Water softeners and filtration equipment
Commercial plumbing systems
Pipe installation and repair (copper, PEX, PVC, ABS, cast iron, and steel)
Leak detection and system diagnostics
Digital work orders and mobile field reporting software
Cross-training or experience in HVAC systems.
Backflow prevention certification.
Experience with commercial and institutional facilities.
Knowledge of hydronic heating and boiler systems.
Confined space, Working at Heights, WHMIS, and First Aid certifications.
