HLD Muskoka is active in all areas of construction from design, excavation, high-end residential building to property maintenance and landscaping.
We are always building on our dynamic team and are currently seeking a skilled landscape operator. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in hardscaping, including cutting and laying stone, along the ability to operate equipment in tight-access, environmentally sensitive areas without disrupting surrounding landscapes or infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed excavation and placement of materials for patios, walkways, retaining walls, stairs, treads.
- Achieve tight tolerances to ensure proper drainage and long-term performance
- Execute accurate grading and compaction
- Minimize material waste and prevent damage during handling and placement
- Work around existing infrastructure (irrigation, lighting, shorelines, and foundations) with zero damage tolerance
- Utilize a variety of tools including a quick cuts, torches and chainsaw
- Experience cutting and laying flagstone
- Efficiently prepare area for hardscape installations, taking into consideration factors such as soil conditions, drainage, and slopes
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment at the job site.
- Work with the team to ensure proper drainage solutions and erosion control
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for specific tasks
- Additional duties and responsibilities as needed
The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed:
- Proficient in the use of hardscape tools
- Sound knowledge of skills and techniques related to hardscape landscape construction
- Physically fit and able to lift, bend and kneel repeatedly and carry out strenuous physical tasks
- Reliable, motivated and energetic
- Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of the landscape team
- Enjoy working outside and in various weather conditions
- Demonstrated experience in laying stone, performing precise site grading, and constructing stable slopes for landscaping and drainage purposes
Qualifications:
· Valid G license and clean driving abstract
· Minimum 3 years in landscape construction or hardscape
· Strong ability to read and interpret landscape design
· Minimum 2 years experience in advanced operation of mini-excavators (1.5t–8t)
· Experience with specialized attachments (grapples, vacuum lifters, hydraulic thumbs)
· Legally eligible to work in Canada
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is established based on market benchmarks and internal equity. Compensation will be determined based on qualifications and experience and communicated with the successful candidate upon the final offer within this range. It will not be disclosed publicly the wage brackets of our team to respect and uphold the privacy of our employees under the PIPEDA (Personal information Protection and Electronic Documents Act)
